I should know by now that when I hear about a band frequently, I should just listen to them. It took me way too long to finally check out Defeater, (I just checked them out a couple of days ago) and this album has literally been the only thing I’ve listened to since then. There are two sides to this album, one being Empty Days, the other Sleepless Nights. Empty days is full of crushing emotional hardcore; which sounds like a lovechild of Pianos Become the Teeth and Touche Amore. Sleepless Nights is 4 acoustic songs with clean vocals, which seemed out of place to me at first, but these songs are just as good as the Empty Days tracks. If you haven’t heard this, get on it. This would’ve been high on my top albums of 2011 list if I had heard it beforehand.
