The New & Very Welcome is Jessica McDermott playing sad acoustic tunes. It took me forever to get around to checking this out despite having heard the Saddest Landscape cover album and loving it (more than the originals, even though I really like TSL). When I did check out all of her previous material I immediately ordered everything on the TNVW online store, plus whatever else I could find on other labels pages. Unfortunately, a few months later I found out that this project was ending, which seems to be the case with almost all the music I get really into these days. Luckily, she decided to release this one last album. This is, in my opinion, the best album she has put out. It made it on to my top 10 records of 2012 and I still listen to it regularly, so do yourself a favor and check this out. And while you’re doing that why not check out the rest of the stuff on the Bandcamp page, it’s all pay what you want and its all crazy good.
